We were 2 and hosted by Irene’s hostel (very nice staff by the way) which arranged our trip to the monasteries. It is a one day trip and we were driven by a guide and stopped to the 4 most well preserved painted monasteries, plus the blackware pottery factory, and a very nice Romanian specialty restaurant with a charming view on the valley.
